APA Sustainability and Resilience Series
SCD has started a new APA Sustainability and Resilience Series! APA’s Divisions have been creating a two year-long, inter-disciplinary series of virtual learning sessions on sustainability and resilience topics for planners. Sessions will be offered for planners new to the material as well as for those with moderate or advanced involvement in sustainability or resilience planning. All sessions will furnish AICP CM credit live AND on demand. Miami-Dade Climate Action Strategy
Miami-Dade County is moving forward with their Climate Action Strategy to cut GHG emissions by 50% by 2030 and reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. The County has also moved forward in acquiring additional electric buses, this will be the largest fleet of 40-foot battery-powered e-buses in the U.S.
American Rescue Plan Act funds
$75 million proposed for resilience and energy efficiency in the American Rescue Plan Act.
Yale releases new report on climate communications
Finally, Yale University and Facebook released a new report, International Public Opinion on Climate Change. A survey on public climate change knowledge, attitudes, policy preferences and behavior among Facebook users in 30 countries.

Climate Service Providers Academy
The Carolinas Integrated Sciences and Assessments (CISA) team is partnering with the American Society of Adaptation Professionals in hosting a virtual Climate Service Providers Academy. It is a virtual workshop designed to assist professionals accessing the tools and resources needed to develop higher quality climate services and help their business succeed in the rapidly evolving climate services marketplace. Trainings will include
New skills for accessing the very best climate data and information for the Great Lakes, Carolinas, and Southwest regions. Sophisticated knowledge and relevant examples of the strategies and approaches that constitute high quality climate change adaptation and resilience practice across North America.
